The tests were performed in a multi-phase technique, using a 16-row Siemens Sensation 16 CT scanner with the standard preparation of the patient. Results and conclusions The role of CT in the detection of primary tumor was inconsiderable. Only 7% of tumors were detected during CT. Difficulties in interpreting CT images appeared in about half of primary tumors investigated during further examinations (43%). GIST spread mainly to liver and peritoneum, what limits the need of CT examinations of areas other than abdomen and pelvis. Application of Choi criteria instead of RECIST improved evaluation of response to treatment and led to verification of false progression picture (20% of all cases).
