The aim of this study was correlation of changes in ovary hormones and function of entero-insular axis in postmenopausal women with or without hormonal replacement therapy (HRT). The studied women were incorporated into 3 groups: with transdermal HRT (n=25), with classic oral HRT (n=8), and 16 women who rejected the possibility of such a treatment, as a control group. In all women the plasma levels of estradiol, follithrophin, lutheotrophin, glucose, insulin, GIP, GLP-1 and CCK were determined before the therapy and 6 and 12 months after that. The same time intervals were apply in control group. The plasma levels of glucose and hormones of entero-insular axis were measured before (in fasted state) and 1 hour after the standard test meal. Before the treatment mean concentrations of all detected parameters were similar in all tested groups. After 6 and 12 months of HRT in these women the significant increase of estradiol concentration was observed as compare to control group (p<0.001). After 12 months of HRT in both groups (oral and transdermal therapy) the levels of all determined hormones of entero-insular axis and glucose were diminished. It has been concluded that both types of HRT by lowering the secretion of gut hormones has beneficial effect on actions of insulin on carbohyd}, abstract={rate metabolism.}, title={The effect of hormonal replacement therapy on enteroinsular axis}, type={Praca doktorska}, keywords={hormone replacement therapy, estradiol, pancreatic-gut axis}, }
