Haglund, T. laevigatum (Willd.) DC, T. bicorne Dahlst., T. obovatum (Willd.) DC i T. rubicundum (Dahlst.) Dahlst and a comparison of sesquiterpenoid profiles of Taraxacum species, including T. officinale Weber ex Wigger, a medicinal plant of the Polish Pharmacopoeia. From ethanolic extracts of roots and aerial parts of the plants 14 sesquiterpenoids were isolated using chromatographic methods (CC, TLC, PTLC, HPLC). Of these, 11 compounds were found to contain P-glucopyranosyl moieties. Nine known compounds (four germacranolides, two eudesmanolides and three guaianolides) were identified and five new compounds (one eudesmanolide, two eudesmane derivatives and two guaianolides) were characterised by spectral methods (ID and 2D 1H and 13C NMR and ESIMS). The results of the phytochemical analysis have demonstrated that roots of the plants are better sources of sesquiterpenoids than aerial parts, except T. obovatum.
