The study was conducted between 03.2019 and 02.2020, in two hospitals and two diabetes clinics in Bielsko-Biała and Wadowice. The study protocol was approved by the Bioethics Committee in Bielsko-Biala (opinion No. 2018/11/15/3 of 15.11.2018). After taking into account the age criterion of 18-65 years as well as the exclusion criteria, 203 patients were analysed - 101 inpatients and 102 outpatients. A questionnaire KomPAN and an original survey questionnaire were used in the assessment. The following conclusions were drawn: - Eating behaviours were influenced by age, gender and professional activity. - Nutritional status, assessed by BMI, was influenced by age, education and financial situation. - Overweight and obese patients declared lower physical activity and the nutritional status influenced their own self-assessment of their health. - A patient’s education was significantly related to their level of nutritional knowledge. - A patient’s level of nutritional knowledge correlated with their eating behaviours and with a higher healthy and lower unhealthy diet index.
