In addition to typical symptoms, this disease is also accompanied by extensive pain. They appear especially at night, causing frequent awakening of the patient, worsening the quality of sleep and disrupting night rest. The aim of this study was a comparative analysis of the impact of CTS on selected aspects of the quality of life of patients with clinical symptoms of CTS in the period before and after surgical treatment, with particular emphasis on sleep disorders. The obtained results showed that almost 70% of CTS patients suffer from sleep disorders. These results also showed a statistically significant negative impact of CTS on selected aspects of patients' quality of life. Statistically significant improvement was demonstrated after median nerve decompression surgery in all aspects, except for sleepiness, assessed. As it has been proven, the more severe the symptoms of CTS, the greater the sleep disturbances and the worse the assessment of hand function and quality of life. The results collected in this study emphasize the special role of sleep disorders in CTS, indicating not only the importance of surgical treatment in eliminating the physical cause of CTS, but also the beneficial effect of this treatment on improving the quality of sleep, well-being and everyday functioning.}, abstract={Interestingly, the surgery did not have much effect on the patients' sleepiness.}, title={Impact of the most common mononeuropathy of the upper limb on selected aspects of the quality of life, with particular emphasis on sleep disorders}, type={Praca doktorska}, keywords={mononeuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, median nerve, sleep disorders}, }
