At the same time, an improvement of postural stability after an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is a key issue of postoperative rehabilitation. Therefore it should be analyzed whether the functional stability of people after ACL reconstruction can be improved by means of modification within the stomatognathic system. AIM: The main aim of the study was an assessment of the postural stability of individuals after ACL reconstruction in a temporarily altered position of the condylar process of the temporomandibular joints (TMJ). MATERIALS AND METHODS: 80 people after ACL reconstruction and without any disorders in the stomatognathic system were examined. Their postural stability was measured on a stabilometric balance platform in three test positions: maximal intercuspal position, with a 1.5 mm plate and cotton rolls between dental arches. The position of the center of gravity and its changes related to various test positions were analyzed. RESULTS: The postural stability of the referred group was significantly improved in test positions modifying the occlusal conditions and condylar positions of TMJ. CONCLUSIONS: An appropriate modification of occlusal conditions and condylar positions improves postural stability of subjects after ACL reconstruction and therefore may reduce the risk of re-injury}, abstract={.}, title={Postural stability in a temporarily altered position of the temporomandibular joints of individuals after reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament}, type={Praca doktorska}, keywords={postural stability, ACL reconstruction, temporomandibular joints}, }
