The aim of the study was to estimate the influence of WBCT on subjective pain feeling, functional efficiency and melatonin and serotonin plasma concentrations in patients with spondyloarthritis of the lumbar spine.Method\: The study group A\: 60 patients \(mean 59 ± 8 years\) with spondyloarthritis of lumbar spine. All patients participated in ten sessions of whole body cryotherapy \(WBCT\).The study group B\: consisted \(mean 60 ± 8 years\) with spondyloarthritis of lumbar spine. All patients participated in ten sessions of exercise therapy. Before and after the series of physical procedures \(WBCT\) and exercise therapy the examination of pain \(VAS\) and functional efficiency \(ODI, RMDQ\) was performed. Plasma concentrations of melatonin and serotonin were measured by enzyme\-linked immunosorbent assay \(ELISA\).Results\: After WBCT and exercise therapy in both study groups decrease of pain feeling \(33%\) and improvement of functional efficiency \(RMDQ\) was noted \(33%\). In group A functional efficiency measured by ODI improved by 17%, in group B by 10% after applied physical therapy \(p ≤ 0,05\). The mean melatonin plasma concentration in group A increased by 8,44 pg\/mL, and serotonin plasma concentration by 14,44 ng\/mL, while in group B melatonin plasma"]
