Tested lactoferrin species had no significant impact on bacterial populations of species important for pathogenesis of neonatal sepsis. Only MnLf significantly improved growth of all tested Lactobacillus strains. Various Lf species did not affect apoptosis and necrosis levels in Caco\-2 cell line. All tested forms sustained levels of tight\-junction proteins in epithelialc cells. Furthermore, various Lf species retained ability to hinder LPS impact on macrophage function."]
