Search for: [Abstract = "The results of a case \- control study performed in 2003 \- 2004 with a goal to evaluate social conditioning of suicidal attempts in adolescents \(14\- 19 y\) are presented in the study. The study groups comprised of 100 patients of the Department of Clinical Toxicology Jagiellonian University Medical College hospitalized because of attempted suicidal poisoning \(basie, examined group\)\; 60 accidentally poisoned patients \(I control group\), and 105 pupils of Kraków secondary schools \(II control group\). A self designed questionnaire of 50 questions, DUKE \- UNC Functional Social Support Questionnaire \(Broadhead i wsp., 1988\), Rand Social Activities Questionnaire \(Donald et al., 1978\), Social Adjustment Scale \(Myrna, Weissman, 1971\) were used. Sociodemographic and suicidal attempt characteristics as well as analysis of socio\-economic influence on risk of suicidal attempts in adolescents were done. Basing on the results obtained it can be stated that unfavorable socio\-economic situation \(familial psychopathology, socioeconomic status, family aggression and violence\) can relatively often to foster the voung peoole to commit a suicide."]
