The research was carried on a group of 99 people\: 61 women and 38 men suffering from low back pain. Patients were divided into three equal groups. In the first group TENS current were used, in the second one the ultrasounds, in the third one the linearly polarized light from Bioptron lamp. The physiotherapy covered 10 treatments in on series \(5 treatments weekly\). Just before the treatment started and right after them, 5 ml of blood samples were taken from the patients. The chattel of the spine was also examined thanks to the Schöber test and the patients were also asked to fill in two questionnaires\: Rolando Moriss's one and Oswestry Disability Index. They were also asked to select on the visual\-analog scale VAS their subjective sense of pain. The research showed significant changes in decline of cortisol concentration and rise in enkephalins and endorphins in blood serum only after TENS currents. All of the physiotherapeutic interventions used had positive impact on the spine and it's movability. They improved the physical activity of the patients and they also reduced the feeling of pain."]
