Search for: [Abstract = "The diagnosis and treatment of asthma is a significant problem of public health. Among the triggers of bronchial hyperreactivity, oxidative stress appears to play a vital role. Therefore, it was justified to undertake research into the mechanisms and the functional role of oxidative stress in the bronchi in a model of bronchial hyperreactivity. Towards this end, an experimental model of asthma was created using Dunkin Hartley guinea pigs. In a series of experiments, segments of the animals’ superior and medial lobar bronchi were exposed to\: acetylocholine, histamine, MnTBAP \(“scavenger” of free radicals\) and DETC. Bronchial hyperreactivity was tested using an organ bath. The parameters of oxidative stress were assessed through the measurement of superoxide radical anion \(O2\-.\) production in the bronchial segments using chemiluminescence. The results indicate a significant role of non\-specific reactions in the occurrence of bronchospasm, which confirms the complex pathophysiology of bronchial hyperreactivity."]
