The average cumulative incidence, incidence density and mortality of nosocomial pneumoniae \(PNEU\), bloodstream infections \(BSI\), urinary tract infections \(UTI\) and surgical site infections were calculated. The average cumulative incidence of PNEU was 0.29%\; of BSI \- 0.24% and of UTI \- 0.36%. Incidence density rates of PNEU, BSI and UTI were as follows\: 0,41 ‰ 0.34 ‰ and 0.05 ‰. The average incidence density of PNEU among patients treated with mechanical ventilation was 1.57 ‰, average incidence density of BSI among patients with central line catheters was 3.77 ‰ and average incidence density among patients with urinary catheters was 2.55 ‰. Average incidence rate of surgical site infections \(SSI\) after surgical procedures of 45 different kinds was 2.1 %. A separate analysis of some costs of hospital infections was also performed in this study. Annual cost of excess hospitalization of patients with HI in a large \(over 500 beds\) specialist hospital amount to approximately 1.2 mln PLN. In two others hospitals, a small and medium\-sized one, the cost was about 0.6 mln PLN each. In each hospital the most costly His are those occurring in intensive care units. The cost of ant"]
