The study group included persons .65 years living in 2 nursing homes and hospitalized heart failure \(HF\) patients, assessed in POLKARD programme. Cognitive impairment \(CI\), frailty syndrome \(FS, CSHA\-CFS and Frail\-CHS scales\), arterial hypertension, HF, multiple comorbidities and polypharmacy are very frequently present among elderly nursing home residents. In FS diagnostics CSHA\-CFS was more useful than Frail\-CHS scale, and severe FS and CI were associated with significantly lower probability of one\-year survival, what indicates the need to perform comprehensive geriatric assessment. Hospitalized patients .80 years old, with HF, when compared to younger patients, had significantly less often performed echocardiography and less frequently used recommended pharmacotherapy."]
