Search for: [Abstract = "The aim of the study was to estimate the prevalence of a social phobia in the non\-treated population of adolescents in an early phase of adolescence and an attempt to describe a qualitative profile of the disorder and its comorbidity with depression in the Polish population. Materiał and methods\: The group comprised 115112\-year\-old pupils. The following tools were used in the study\: Social Phobia and Anxiety lnventory for Children and the questionnaire Krakowski Inwentarz Depresyjny \(KIO\). Rcsults\: The mean value for total SPAI\-C for boys and girls was 7,47±7,03 and 9,32±8,23, respectively \(p<0,001\). The screening diagnosis of a social phobia was established in 9,6% adolescents and the diagnosis of depression in 23,8% adolescents while the symptoms of a social phobia and depression wcre recognized in 5,7% adolescents. Depression increases the risk of a social phobia and social phobia increases the risk of depression The scores indicating a social phobia wcre 7,5% in boys and 12,1% in girls \(p = 0,012\). In a factor analysis four factors were distinguished. The factors obtained for the whole group and the group of girls were the following\: I. assertiveness, li. fear of social meetings, III. fear of public speaking, N. avoiding social situations.
