Search for: [Abstract = "The aim of the study was to determine the metabolic model of the brain in children \(6 to 15\-year\-old\) using proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy \(1H MRS\). Particular attention was paid to the occurrence of the brain metabolic composition differences between girls and boys, between selected brain regions and between the brain hemispheres in children, as well as differences resulting from the stage of development \(fetuses and children\). Absolute and relative concentrations of metabolites in the brain \(frontal lobes, basal ganglia, hippocampus, cerebellum\) of healthy children and fetuses were computed\: N\-acetylaspartate \(NAA\), creatine \(Cr\), choline \(Cho\), myo\-inositol \(mI\), lipids \(Lip\) and lactates \(Lac\).On the basis of the studies and analyzes, it was possible to determine the metabolic model and to state that\: •the child's brain shows only a few sex differences in the biochemical composition\; •the child's brain is inhomogeneous and characterized by regional variability of the biochemical composition within each hemisphere\; •the child's brain, without sex distinction, is characterized by a lack of significant biochemical lateralization\; •the brain undergoes significant changes in the biochemical composition from fetal to childhood."]
