Search for: [Abstract = "The aim of the study is to assess the clinical and cost effectiveness of spa treatment financed from public funds in Poland. The results of Polish studies indicate that spa treatment in Poland is effective, although these are low level evidence studies. It should be noted, however, that the results of Polish studies are consistent with the results of randomized controlled trials of spa therapy conducted in other countries \(France, Turkey, the Dead Sea area, Italy, Tunisia, Serbia, Portugal, and Austria\). These studies have demonstrated the beneficial effect of rehabilitation in a spa in the treatment of many diseases, including, in particular, musculoskeletal diseases such as pain and osteoarthritis of the joints and\/or the spine, or arthritis \( e.g., ankylosing spondylitis and rheumatoid arthritis \). In an economic analysis conducted for Poland, it was estimated that for patients with degenerative disease of the spine and\/or joints, discopathy and\/or spinał pain the costs of sanatorium treatment conducted in a health resort are higher than the costs of outpatient rehabilitation mainly due to differences in the length of the therapies, which affects the total cost of the assessed interventions. Therapy in a spa, however, brings additional health benefits in this group of patients."]
