The average duration period of hemodialysis was 82.7 months. Echocardiography was performed in all patients prior to and after HD both in the supine and orthostatic positions, and, additionally, during HD when hypotensive episodes occurred. Then, selected echocardiography parameters which can influence the rise in LVOTG were analyzed. For additional verification of the preload\-dependence of LVOTG, the echocardiographic findings \(after a long versus a short pause between HDs\) were compared. The measurement of IVC diameter and its flat ratio were used to assess the volemic state. The dose of ultrafiltration during HD performed after a long pause was statistically significantly higher than that after a short pause. There was no statistically significant correlation found between the ultrafiltration volume and the pressure gradient in the LVOT. After HD session, both after a long as well as a short pause, it was observed that the LV cavity size and the LA diameter decreased statistically significantly and the LV ejection fraction and the shortening fraction increased. The thickness of the interventricular septum was a predictor influencing the height of LVOTG after HD. HD predisposed to standing\-provoked LVOTG"]
