Search for: [Abstract = "Purpose\: The doctoral dissertation has been prepared in order to assess the quality of life of the patients after the cataract surgery. The aim of the thesis was\: to assess the change in the quality of life in the patients before and after the cataract surgery, to establish the categories which significantly influence the quality of life, to show the relationship between the quality of life and the socio\-demographic factors, as well as, the emotional state of the respondents.Methods\: In the dissertation, the functional and psychologicalaspects of the quality of life were taken into consideration. The research was conducted in two groups\: the study group and the control group. The longitudinal study model was applied and the research, before and after the cataract surgery, was conducted in the same esamined. The patients were observed for the period of one month before the cataract surgery and for four months after the surgery.Results\: The categories which significantly influence the quality of life, in terms of functioning, are Mobility, Social interactions, Recreation and Pastime, whereas taking into account psychological aspects, the categories include Health and functioning, Socio\-economic aspects and Psychological\/spiritual aspects. In the conducted research, it has been established that the sense of the quality of life is related to the emotional state of the respondents. Poorer quality of life, both before and after the cataract surgery, taking into account the functional and psychological dimensions, was observed in the women’s group.Conclusion\: The conducted research has proven that the overall quality of life in patients after the cataract surgery has been significantly improved both in terms of their functioning and psychological state. The assessment of the quality of life done by a patient constitutes an essential element in the process of treatment and care when we mean the holistic physical, psychological, spiritual and social health."]
