Search for: [Abstract = "Lower lip cancer constitutes 30% of all malignant neoplasms of the orał cavity and 10% of those located in the head and neck region. Incidence of lip cancer in the year 2000 in Poland was 556 cases.The aim of this paper is to evaluate the methods and results of surgical treatment of the patients with lower lip cancer on the basis of analysis of own clinical materiał from 1980 to 2001.Analysis of the results of surgical treatment was performed in three aspects\: oncological, functional and aesthetic.Microscopic radicality of the surgical resection of the lip was confirmed in 234 \(85.7%\) of patients, narrow margin ofresection in 11 \(4.0%\) and histologie nonradicality in 28 \(10.3%\). Infiltration of the mandible was diagnosed in 14 \(70%\) of the patients who underwent resection of the alveolar part of the mandible \(6\) or segmental resection of the mandibular shaft \(14\).Metastasis to the lymph nodes were confirmed in 112 \(64.4%\) out of the group of 174 patients who underwent lymph nodes excision, including 35 \(31.3%\) patients with extracapsular spread. In the group of 165 \(53.9%\) patients, metastasis were confirmed in 49 \(29.7%\) of cases.Total 3\- year survival rate was 32.6%, 5\-year 23.5% and 10\-year 12.1%."]
