Search for: [Abstract = "Introduction The PhD thesis concerns physical development of students from primary schools \(both sports and traditional\) in Tarnów, which originally, because of a different educational profiles, differentiate the physical development of children and adolescents, as well as affect their attitudes. The research initiated by the author, is a pioneer study which may contribute developing a Child of Tarnow, which is an anthropometric picture of children and adolescents from Tarnów city in Poland. Since similar studies have been carried out for neighboring cities, e.g. Kraków and Rzeszów, the necessity of analogous study for Tarnów seems to be urgent. The results of such study are a valuable feedback on developmental and social\-health problems of Tarnów community and they facilitate the designing of adequate prophylactic operations. The results are also an introduction for more complex investigation which will be realized in the future among the population of Tarnów city.Aim of the thesisThe main goal of the dissertation was to evaluate the influence of sport commitment and home environment on the course of physical development and health condition of students from sports and traditional primary schools.Materials and methodsThe dataset for research comprised 264\-people sample – aged 9–13 years old, males and females. In the dissertation somatic indices of physical development based on anthropometric measurements of the examined group of children has been presented and interpreted using percentile charts. Modern, however not commonly used methods of assessment and diagnosis of body posture disorders \(TPC\) and cardiac conduction system dysfunctions \(ECG\), as well as evaluation of anthropometric measures, have been employed. Additionally, a survey has been conducted, in order to establish environmental influences on somatic development. A questionnaire about home environment has been prepared, 596 responses have been collected and processed. As a result, correlatives, which may affect children’s development and their health attitudes, have been found. In order to characterize the physical activity level of the children’s parents, another standardized research tool IPAQ has been employed."]
