Aim of the work\: Evaluation of changes of selected risk factors of atherosclerosis in the group of adolescents on the adulthood threshold.Materials and methods\: The study group consisted of 100 women and 41 men, students of the two last secondary schools classes. The group was examined twice, with one year gap, using the same methods \(the diagnostic survey, the anthropometric measurements, the blood tests\). 16 potential risk factors for atherosclerosis were selected.Results\: Average age of the respondents was 17.85 0.51 years and 18.96 0.51 years in the second one. The occurrence of CVD among the relatives was reported by 46.8% of the group. The average number of the CVD risk factors was high, similar in women \(4.88 1.88\) and men \(5.07 1.23\)\; no significant difference between two examinations and the genders. The frequency of hypertension increased \(from 4.3% to 11.3%, p = 0.000\). MS was diagnosed in 47.5% of the adolescents in the first examination and 49.7% in the second one. The considerable rise was noted in the concentration of the hsCRP \(p = 0.044\), fibrinogen \(p=0.000\), TC \(p=0.005\), LDL\-C fraction \(p = 0.008\) and also in HDL\-C \(p=0.000\), the values of BMI, WHR and waist size \(p<0.05"]
