Methods\: Investigation was carried out within the project of Committee for Scientific Research\: \"Genetic and environmental factors oflongevity\". We examined\: 59 centenarians, 51 of centenarians' off spring and 50 controls. Blood pressure was estimated from the average value of 3 measurements, with sphygmomanometer on the shoulder. Arterial stiffness was estimated by pulse wave analysis. Pressure waveforms were recorded from the radial artery and the waveform data were then processed by SphygmoCor radial\/aortic transform software module to produce the estimated aortic pressure waveform. Results\: The centenarians' offspring had the lowest values of pulse pressure'. Arteria\! stiffness is comparable in three examined groups. There was a tendency to the highest values of SBP and SBPc in the control subjects but in the centenarians there was a tendency to the lowest values of DBP and DB Pe. HT was the most common in the controls but ISH in the centenarians. Hypertensive centenarians had stiffer arteries. Conclusions\: Arteria\! stiffness of centenarians is comparable to that observed in younger groups, which is probably consequence of delaying of arterial stiffening with advanced age or excluding subjects with less com pliant arteries.
