Search for: [Abstract = "Introduction\: Sexual violence is a significant social problem that requires effective methods of offender treatment. Effective therapy for offenders plays a crucial role in the prevention of sexual crimes. The effectiveness of interventions depends on understanding the etiology of underlying causes of criminal sexual behaviour. Research objective\: The scientific work focusing on the role of early maladaptive schemas in sexual criminality aims to better understand the etiological mechanisms of this phenomenon and broaden therapeutic intervention possibilities. The research analysed how the characteristics of offenses are related to offenders’ early maladaptive schemas. Furthermore, the study examined the relationships between the severity of different forms of violence and early maladaptive schemas. The study included 152 males convicted of sexual offences, and data from 102 offenders qualified for analysis. Three subgroups of offenders were identified based on the age of victims\: offenders involved in sexual exploitation of children aged up to 14 years \(N=49\), offenders involved in sexual exploitation of individuals aged 15\-17 years \(N=20\), and offenders involved in sexual exploitation of adults, i.e., above 18 years of age \(N=33\).
