Search for: [Abstract = "Introduction\: Osteoarthritis causes a number of physical ailments which may causes influence the individual’s wellbeing deteriorating their life quality. Aim\: The aim ot the thesis was to evaluate the influence of a person’s physical condition and one’s personal resources upon the quality of lives of patients with osteoarthritis of the knee joint. Material and methods\: 300 persons were involved, including 150 patients with gonarthrosis and 150 persons without any diagnosed diseases within the lower limbs motor organs. In the study were used\: Life Orientation Test \(LOT\-R\), Generalised Self Efficacy Scale \(GSES\), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index \(WOMAC\), Lequesne Algofunctional Index \(ISK\) and the World Health Organization Quality of Life WHOQOL\-BREF. For the statistical analysis of the results nonparametric tests were applied, adopting the significance level p<0.05. Results\: The most persons under study suffering from gonarthrosis were characterized by serious or severe impairment of the knee joints functioning and their disability. The persons in the comparison group had a higher ratio of the sense of self\-efficacy \(p<0.001\) and a higher level of dispositional optimism \(p<0.001\) and assessed their quality of life and health significantly better \(p<0.05\).
