Search for: [Abstract = "In recent years, chronic kidney disease has become a growing clinical problem. Currently, the best method of treatment is kidney transplantation. The aim of the study was to evaluate the 2\-year survival of grafts and recipients and to determine the frequency and severity of complications \- with particular focus on post\-transplant diabetes \(PTDM\).We studied 212 consecutive kidney transplant recipients \(87 women, 125 men\; median age \- 47.7 years, minimum – 16, maximum – 78 years\) from years 2013\-2014 who were under control in Department of Nephrology of University Hospital in Cracow. The follow\-up period was 24 months and the composite endpoint was the loss of transplanted kidney function or the death of the recipient. The full\-time follow\-up was finished by 195 patients. 1\- and 2\-year allograft and patient survival were respectively 96.2%\; 92.9% and 97.2%\; 97.1%. PTDM was diagnosed in 56 patients. There was no significant effect of diabetes on the survival of both recipients and grafts in the first 24 months. Kidney transplant function improved during the first 2 years in all patient groups. Patients with PTDM were characterized by worse function of transplanted kidney. Recipients in the first years are characterized by a large increase in body weight and BMI."]
