Other predisposing factors, such as diet, limited physical activity, environmental pollution and smoking are also important. There are also reports on the important role of intestinal microbiome in the development of gastrointestinal cancers. Other gastrointestinal cancers are less common than colorectal cancer, but they have a significantly higher mortality rate. This is the case with pancreatic cancer.
