Search for: [Abstract = "Continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion \(CSII\) via personal insulin pump is a valuable therapeutic tool in diabetes mellitus type 1 patients \(T1DM\). However it is not clear which variables play crucial role in achieving optimal metabolic control and which influence insulin requirement. The purpose of this dissertation was to investigate retrospectively factors affecting metabolic control and insulin dosing in 145 adults with T1DM treated with CSII. The specific aims included\: to characterized patient’s group, to assess insulin pump function such as bolus calculator \(BC\) and continuous glucose monitoring system \(CGMS\) and to create predictive statistical models.Sources of information’s about the patients included\: available medical records, memory read\-out from insulin pumps \(PDF\), blood glucose meters data, the results of biochemical analysis, additional studies and surveys. In conclusion of my disertation, both patient\-related and treatment\-related variables have a strong influence on metabolic control and on insulin requirement in adult patients with T1DM. Motivation to treatment, self monitoring of blood glucose and usage advance pump function like Bolus Calculator and CGMS are crucial to achieve treatment goals. The results obtained from this analysis can be helpful in making the treatment of patients with type 1 diabetes more effective and safe."]
