The obtained results indicate that the structure of the examined anthracyclines determines their way of interaction with CBRl. Differences in CBRl modulation of the biologica\! activity of anthracyclines have been noted. It was found that anthracycline metabolites are a substrates for the ABCB 1 resistance oumo, and the modulator of this transporter aff ects the distribution of anthracyclines and their metabolites in resistant cells in a various ways. This conclusion indicates the existence of a relationship between the CBRl\-dependent rnetabolism of anthracyclines and the ABCB 1\-dependent release of rnetabolites. The affinity of anthracycline rnetabolites to the ABCB 1 transporter may be one of the rnechanisms responsible for reducing the cytotoxicity of anthracyclines under the influence of their biotransforrnation."]
